Holiday travels

We have just returned from travelling around the UK and Japan. During our time in Japan we had the opportunity to drive outside Tokyo to see Mt.Fuji which is about 100kms from this city.
The mountain stands over 4000m and is snow covered for most of the year except for the summer months. We were driven upt the side of the mountain to where the road ends at Stage 5 about 2000m. At this point we found cafes, shops and a small temple dedicated to a mountain goddess who it is reported looks after all the climbers who move on up to the top of the large crater. A dormant volcano it is expected to erupt again within the next fifty years.
