Happy web design in 2006 - I think its a great idea to link all the student activities and comments on new and existing web developments - it will be very informative for everyone.

Eproofed - Information Architecture document

To-day I have finished my first Information Architecture document for the prototype of my site Eproofed.com. This site will be used to support my business of editing and proofreading documents, brochures, advertisements, journal articles and even books.
From my search of other sites on the Internet most of the businesses are groups which specialize in particular subject areas such as natural sciences, pure science, engineering and technology. Most are international groups with a few Australian based groups.
I have found that learning about Information Architecture is a really good area to work through and to relate to my work with new clients.!

Holiday travels

We have just returned from travelling around the UK and Japan. During our time in Japan we had the opportunity to drive outside Tokyo to see Mt.Fuji which is about 100kms from this city.
The mountain stands over 4000m and is snow covered for most of the year except for the summer months. We were driven upt the side of the mountain to where the road ends at Stage 5 about 2000m. At this point we found cafes, shops and a small temple dedicated to a mountain goddess who it is reported looks after all the climbers who move on up to the top of the large crater. A dormant volcano it is expected to erupt again within the next fifty years.

Setting Goals for Eproofed site

Eproofed site has been established to promote a small editing and proofreading business.
Now that the eproofed is under construction my thoughts turn to specific goals for this site.
Four major goals are considered:
A. Uptodate, accurate and comprehensive content for editing and proofreading services to attract:
New clients;
Existing clients; and
Professional colleagues.
B. Good site structure which provides easy navigation;
C. Facility to interact with clients with email; and
D. Facility to collect and analyse information within the industry.
These goals will be investigated over the next four weeks whilst I am away on holidays.

The first part of the Food table has been completed. I now wish to send my updated files back to the TAFE network. As I do not have WINZIP is there are free zip software available which I can download?

Now that all the links on the Indian Tavel pages are working we are now going to create a few tables and forms where appropriate such as Food and Railway Stations.
By next week we hope to have all the graphics completed so that each page will have a relevant illustration.

Indian Railway Travels
For the past fifteen years I have taken an interest in travelling by rail throughout India to complement my interest in the history of rail development in this country.
Now I wish to bring to-gether my thoughts on a website which may assist rail travellers embarking on short and long journeys around the subcontinent. Topics such as main rail routes including maps, tickets, clothes to wear, food and drink supplies and health issues will be covered.

Ray's web design talk

Ray gave Michael's group a very interesting talk on his experiences as a web developer. He included the following topics:

Personal training experience and attendance of structured courses.
Experiences in real-time projects.
Empasis on the qualities of initiative; enthusasim; high standard of work; resourcefulness; and good communication.
Looks for these attributes in a co-worker
Preference for developing own software from open source code with some use of proprietary software when necessary
Need to keep up-to-date with new software developments and changes in the IT industry
